Meet Megan BuchBinder

Marketing Manager

Next up in our “Get to Know a Reveler” series is one of our newest team members, Megan Buchbinder. A newbie to Missouri, Megan enjoys a good Harry Potter movie marathon paired perfectly with a Jersey Mike’s sub (#7 with extra pickle to be exact) and a cozy blanket. She is addicted to a good workout solely to counteract her love for anything deliciously bad for her and when she’s not spending her days learning about all things Revel, she is running/hiking with her husband, watching re-runs of The Mindy Project or cuddled with a good book.

We caught up with Megan to learn more about this New Jersey born, North Carolina bred newbie. Read on to learn about Megan’s preferred music choices, her tendency to be indecisive and her apparent love for Harry Potter.

What brought you to Springfield?

I came to Springfield from Boone, North Carolina… a small mountain town in the Western part of the state. My (now) husband relocated to this area a couple of years ago and once we got married in November, I realized it would probably be beneficial to live here too.

What attracted you to the advertising field?

My degree is in marketing and, at my previous position at Appalachian State University, I gained experience in creating marketing and advertising campaigns for the arts. That is when I realized how much this field satisfies my love and need to be creative but also allows me to geek out on data.

What do you love most about your job?

It doesn’t take a lot of time to realize you are in the presence of some real creative geniuses at Revel. I am a perfect example considering I am brand spanking new here and I definitely see it. My fellow Revelers are inviting, energetic and very driven. It’s a contagious work environment and they have created a sense of excitement and eagerness in me that gets me excited to dive right in to doing the best work I can for the clients they work with. That has definitely been my favorite part so far.

Do you have any nicknames around the office?

Not to my knowledge. Right now I’m just the new girl. (Side note: “New Girl” is a great show.)

How would your best friends describe you?

I phoned a best friend for this one because I actually was not sure what they would say. I thought it would be something along the lines of “she is preciously witty and hilariously charming.” Instead I got: “Megan is someone who can and will sing any Broadway/Disney/90s boy band song by heart and will promptly indulge all of her friends in their current book or movie obsessions and never judges.” I guess that is true too…

Tell us a unique fact about yourself that few people would know.

I am a certified TRX trainer. This is no big secret but I recently received my certification.  For those of you unfamiliar, TRX is a suspension training exercise consisting of just a strap hanging from a wall mount. It is a (torturous) great workout.

What food do you crave most?

I get pretty passionate about my food… I’m weird like that. I have an unhealthy (in some of my friend’s opinions) obsession with Jersey Mike’s Subs and the day I found out one was opening here in Springfield, a part of the sadness of leaving my hometown lessened a little - I realize I sound a little ridiculous. I also love rice.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I wish so badly I was musically inclined. My skills stopped at the recorder in the third grade. I would love to learn the piano or guitar. I have a lot of respect for the arts and wish I had more of that talent in my blood.

What is your favorite book of all time?

I love to read so this is tough. For that reason, I must be that annoyingly indecisive person and make a list:

  • All of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling
  • A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
  • Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
  • Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And Other Concerns by Mindy Kaling
  • The Giving Tree by Shell Silverstein

Do you have any special (or strange) talents?

Not unless you count randomly integrating movie quotes into every day conversation, then I have a lot of special talent.

If Revel were an animal, what would it be and why?

The puppy from the Budweiser Super Bowl commercials. That sweet pup has pledged it’s loyalty to those horses and will stop at nothing to help them. Much like the relationship between Revel and it’s clients.

Leave us with your favorite quote:

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledor
