Meet Amanda Smith (soon-to-be Day)

Art Director

Are you a Springfield native, or a Springfield transplant?

A Springfield transplant — I moved here from Joplin in 2010 to start classes at Missouri State University and started my job at Revel shortly after graduation.

What attracted you to the advertising field?

I actually knew in high school that I wanted to be a designer. I never really knew how I would apply it once I graduated college, but I assumed I would figure it out. A few experiences made me realize that I didn’t want to be an in-house designer anywhere and I also wasn’t very interested in the freelancing world. Revel is actually the first “real job” I’ve had since college and I fell in love.

What do you love most about your job?

Everything. I can’t name just one thing that I love about Revel. The company itself is amazing, as well as the people who work here. We have wonderful clients who trust us with their brands and being able to work with a variety of brands everyday keeps things interesting. There’s never a dull moment and I couldn’t ask for a better place to spend the majority of my day.

Do you have any office nicknames around the office?

Manda Jean — I’m really not sure where this came from, but my middle name is NOT Jean. Nicole started calling me that one day and it just kind of stuck.

How would your best friend describe you?

I actually asked a couple of my best friends because I had no idea what they would say. One said that I’m reliable, friendly, outgoing and a creative, out-of-the-box thinker and the other said that I am an ambitious, creative individual who is a pro at interpretive dancing.

Tell us a unique fact about yourself that few people would know.

I’ve known my fiancé since he was 12ish and we rode the same bus. We actually were “boyfriend and girlfriend” for one weekend in Middle School, but then I broke up with him that following Monday for whatever reason. Little did I know that three years later he would be my first date, my first kiss and, eventually, the man I will be marrying this September.

What food do you crave most?

Peanut butter.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Slow down time.

What is your favorite book of all time?

I honestly don’t get to read as much as I would like to so I don’t currently have a favorite, but I recently joined Megan’s book club so I’m working on it!

Do you have any special (or strange) talents?

I am an excellent knee-driver. This sounds dangerous I know, but really I probably drive better with my knee than I do with both hands on the wheel.

If you had to choose a theme song for your life, what would it be?

The instrumental version of the Friends theme song — The words don’t really apply to my life, but the song itself makes me happy. (clap, clap, clap, clap!)

If you could meet anyone – living or dead – who would you choose?

Taylor Swift

The title of your personal autobiography would be:

This Tastes Weird by Amanda Smith

If Revel were an animal, what would it be and why?

A zebra. It’s unique and has stripes that are each different, but compliment one another — just like each member on Revel’s team.

Leave us with your favorite quote:

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”  —Eleanor Roosevelt
