There’s more to eat in Springfield, Missouri than Applebee’s. A crazy notion, sure. I mean who wouldn’t love to sit down with a nice half-priced appetizer while watching a midlife-crisis happen at the bar? We know there’s more out there and it’s time you’re filled in too. (No offense to Applebee’s. We’re big fans of their 2 for $20.)
So, if you’re interested in upgrading your hometown food game, take a trip downtown and visit one of these 5 restaurants that we have (un)professionally critiqued ourselves! Added bonus: not only is their food freaking delicious, but their branding is on point as well. We’d be lying if we said that wasn't part of the reason we’re drawn to them!
1. Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes
With it’s original location just off Walnut Street downtown, Black Sheep prides itself on its all-natural, hormone free beef patties, immediately fitting the bill for the foodie who prides themselves on trying to eat clean. On-top of all that, their portions are more than generous, so you may need to wear your stretchy pants. Because you aren’t just going to want to stop at a burger, you’ll want to go with one of their french-fry variations, and since you’re following our advice, you gotta run with the salt ‘n’ vinegar. If meat isn’t your thing, there are vegetarian options, salads and a great kid’s menu as well. The cherry on top is their most prized drink — the boozy milkshake. If you’re looking for a first date location — you’re welcome.
