Meet Hayley Poppell
Next up in our “Get to Know a Reveler” series is Hayley Poppell. She’s a French fry and fashion fanatic who approves of well-executed alliteration . When she’s not creating marketing magic at the Revel office, you can catch her studying for her next exam at Missouri State University, or maybe at Chipotle down the street.
We sat down with Hayley to uncover all of the fun and quirky tidbits that make this St. Louis transplant tick. Read on to learn about Hayley’s weird habit, why she thinks Revel is reminiscent of a zoo, and her love for the PC (insert affable eye roll here).
What brought you to Springfield?
I’m from Chesterfield, Missouri, a suburb outside of St. Louis, and came down to attend college at MSU where I am currently a senior that will graduate this May.
What attracted you to the advertising field?
I like the blend of left and right brain elements. It requires a lot of creativity but also an analytic business aspect. Although I am a Fashion Merchandising and Management major (with a Marketing minor), I would really love to pull what I have learned about advertising into working in the fashion industry later down the road.
What do you love most about your job?
The people I work with are great – I love the laid back nature of the office. I also love seeing how projects come together from start to finish. There is a lot of talent in this small group.
Do you have any nicknames around the office?
No real nickname only a little teasing for being a PC person– I just can’t get the hang of the Mac as easily!
How would your best friends describe you?
My best friends would probably say that I am a little OCD because I am definitely a perfectionist and I tend to over-analyze. I would like to think they would also say that I am a hard worker, have a big heart, and a sense of humor.
Tell us a unique fact about yourself that few people would know.
I really love to travel! We went on a lot of family road trips and cruises when I was younger so I have been to nearly all of the 50 states and to several surrounding countries. Europe is next on the bucket list.
What food do you crave most?
I’m a normal college student so I crave Chipotle quite a bit. I also crave French fries dipped into chocolate milkshakes. Weird habit but so good!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn to speak another language. I took French throughout middle and high school but never reached fluency. If I get the time I would love to continue with it.
What is your favorite book of all time?
In high school, Jodi Picoult was my favorite author. I still consider many of her books some of my favorites – The Pact and Vanishing Acts were especially interesting.
Do you have any special (or strange) talents?
I took dance lessons for over 15 years and even competed for awhile. Even after being removed from dance for almost four years, I can still do my splits.
If Revel were an animal, what would it be and why?
I don’t know that Revel could be pinned down to just one animal. It is probably more like a zoo, each staff member as their own species.
